Loquat leaves are native to high elevation zones in South-Central China, where it can be found in Chongqing (Nanchuan Xian), Hubei (Yichang). The leaves also quite strongly resemble the South American genus Couepia and can be used as a substitute for this genus in South American biotope aquariums. These leaves make a fantastic browsing material as well as being a great botanical to provide leaf litter in aquariums. The leaves have been shown to possess both anti-inflammatory and antitumor-promoting effects in scientific research also and so they present a fantastic immune-boosting addition to any aquarium.
